‘Siorssuk’ means ‘gust of wind’ and is spelled in the old orthography of Kalaallisut. When I was a kid growing up in Nuuk, I was obsessed with spelling things correctly. I once fixated on a local company’s name for years because they had broken a language “rule” I had just learned; you should never write double ‘s’ after an ‘r’ in Kalaallisut. It drove me mad… until I found out they were using the old spelling system.

Naming my practice siorssuk visuals is a quiet tribute to that kid: curious, a little stubborn, and always trying to make sense of the world. It’s also a nod to the shifting winds of language, identity, and tradition. The kinds of forces that shape much of the work I do.

I am alberte parnuuna. A multidisciplinary artist, filmmaker, poet, and 2D animator based in Copenhagen, originally from Nuuk, Kalaallit Nunaat. I identify as a mixed Inuk and position myself within the intersections of Indigenous identity and nuanced hybridity. My practice is grounded in storytelling ·· personal, political, and poetic ·· often exploring cultural codes, memory, identity, and the long shadows of colonial history.

Cross-disciplinary and cross-border collaborations is at the core of most of the work. My freelance practice includes (but does not exclude to): 2D animation, photography, event organizing, panels/seminars, and video production.
